The road leaving Trentham

On the road again..

I enjoy the Joy I find in travel photography. I have a fast brain, visual mindset, an empathetic loving heart, cloaked in a thoughtful approach to the romance, whimsy and lust for life that comes with finding beauty through my lens. I’m like a kid at Christmas wondering what the day will bring, what sights and light awaits and wondering who I will meet along the way.. Think Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables) and her over the top exuberance, well, I seem cool on the surface however inside I’m bursting at the seams to discover, romanticise and create with my camera..I take what I do seriously in the most relaxed of ways, I’m a vessel between real life and capturing art, if I don’t document this moment, then who will?

When shooting, what I do feels like a lilting intoxicating dream with a song playing in my head, hours feel like minutes and sometimes, through this immersion, I catch my reflection and it reminds me I exist.

When I first arrived at Acres of Roses in Trentham in the winter of 2024, to stay and shoot, I was taken aback, the warm smiles that welcomed, then the hugs that followed, instantly felt like home. The sight of the property, gardens and the trees, I knew what Sandy and Rob had built was forged through a similar zeal for creation, we were kindred spirits.. a deep passion, through vision, I imagine trial and error, through hard work, sweat and tears; these amazing people made more than a home, they have created a sense of place. To fall, to land and to immerse, a nurturing hug wherever you look, sit or lay..attention to detail. thought, care and curation alongside their phenomenal stylist Belle Hemming .. I’ve come to know and love spending time and chats with Laura, Simone, Caroline and the four legged gang of pooches who call this place home too..

I’ve collected raspberries to enjoy alongside my freshly squeezed juice..other mornings, I make a full English Breakfast with the ample quality provisions in the pantry and fridge..Sandy even bakes her own bread supplied with fresh butter and jam!

Laura and I took an afternoon walk and explored the forest just down the road

Every evening I fall into the softest bed that holds me in safety and comfort..

The fire and tea warms me through winter..an evening bathe under the stars is the perfect prelude to sleep in Summer.. one thing I know is every time I stay and pick up my camera to create, there comes a time when I pop the camera down.

It’s a special chance to slow my mind, unfurl and fall into deep surrender..where the lines of work and rest become apparent and I can switch off, if only in moments.. an artist’s mind is unique, we are held hostage by our super power to create, it nudges and antagonises at every moment, it’s a blessing and a curse, a gift that I am blessed with and adore with every ounce of my being..

The gardens provide a sanctuary of peace, colour, texture and with the ever changing seasons, each visit there is something beautiful and unique to visually savour..
